The NFL has had the same ol’ playoff teams for years: The New England Patriots and Green Bay Packers have qualified every year since 2009. The Denver Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals have both qualified in the past five years, the Seattle Seahawks the last four, and the Carolina Panthers the last three.

But the NFC East always brings in a new champion every year, so you’re always seeing a different team make the playoffs there. The Minnesota Vikings, Washington Redskins and Houston Texans were surprise entries last year.

Surprise teams come every season, but sometimes Super bowl favourites miss out, too. The Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts were the two AFC favourites but both missed out last year, as injuries held both squads to 5-11 and 8-8 records, respectively.

Heck, even the juggernaut Pittsburgh Steelers only got in on the last day of the regular season. The Seattle Seahawks just barely got in as well after winning the last two NFC Championships. You get our point, expect the unexpected in the NFL.

Here are the 2015 NFL playoff teams that are most likely to miss a chance at retaining their postseason ticket in 2016.
